Gypsy Caravan hoops earrings.

Do you know that feeling you came from another place and another time?
I know that you know.

I hand forged the hoops with solid sterling silver 18 gauge wire and ornate them with ancient Nila glass beads, a sterling bali spacer, a floral Karen Hill tribe bead in the very center.
All metal is sterling, oxidized and polished for a rustic look.

They measure 1 5/8 inches in long x 1 6/8 inches.

A gypsy delight!

Thanks for supporting artisans!

*These blue beads were purchased in Indonesia between 1992 - 1996. They are deep, variable blue drawn glass beads called Indo-Pacific, or trade wind beads. This type of bead was made abundantly and traded widely during a long period estimated to have occurred between the 1st century BC and the 12th century AD. Some of the beads on this necklace are partially opalized which suggests that they were excavated. They’ve all been polished.

There were many centers of production and the beads were traded from India to the Philippines, from Africa to China and beyond. There is evidence of nomadic production as well.

These beads are ancient. There are flaws and lots of surface irregularities which make them really beautiful.
